Oil prices dip; gasoline prices don't
Friday, July 18, 2008
Shreveporttimes.com -- The price of crude oil has fallen by $14 the past three days to about $130 a barrel, but that doesn't mean drivers are getting a break at the pump.

The lowest gasoline prices around town have been about $3.84 a gallon for regular unleaded, seen at the Clark station at Youree Drive at Southfield Road in Shreveport and Murphy USA at Wal-Mart on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport. The price is down 2 cents to 3 cents from earlier this week.

they're double quick to jack up prices at the pump, but when it comes to adjusting down - forget it.

any bad news - raise prices.

any good news - ignore it.

Oil will need to fall another $40 a barrel before we see a significant drop in fuel prices.

Funny how that works...
Price per barrel goes up (crude futures), fuel prices immediately go up. Crude futures go down, fuel prices still go up. I guess that's what happens in a market that is not affected by supply and demand principles.

Translation:
Even though Pres. George Bush lifted the Presidential Executive Order that banned Resource Extraction ($14 DROP in $/BL), the market does not trust Senator (Fancy) Nancy P (DEMOlition-Calif) to do the right thing.

Remember, the founders of the present-day Democrat party believed in Resouce X-Traction:
“Whatever works to get power to the people, use it.”
Saul Alinsky, speaking about resource extraction and drilling in ANWAR.

In a 1993 interview with the Washington Post, Hillary Rodham said of Alinsky’s proposal to drill in ANWAR, “I basically argued that [Alinsky] was right….You know, I’ve been on this kick for 25 years.”

I have seen it drop at some stations here by as much as 5 cents. Other stations haven't moved their prices in about 2 weeks. If the price went up, I'm sure the prices would have changed overnight!

Quick to rise at the pump, slow to drop down......and we get to listen to more station operators whine about they make no money, although I don't see ANY going out of business here.

This might be a smart thing. If gas prices start to drop quickly, people will probably react by consuming more gas in a short period of time and it will make prices even higher in the long run due to a spike in demand. It's better to wait for a long term price drop in oil. It's best to hold the gas prices steady until we know for sure that oil prices will drop far down.
