Never happened... Out here in the boonies, you don't have a wide selection of alternatives... In Kamsack, Saskatchewan there is one gas station... change your mind how?

I was just thinking, gas stations that try to get you to pay cash probably have more cash on hand so are better targets for hold-ups.

OKRifle,

Well in that case you wouldn't be able to buy gas anywhere in Utah.

Wanted to pull away but got boxed in. Pilot station with ultra slow service and a food store. People park at the pumps and leave their cars to go into the store. Sat for over 5 minutes before attendant started pumping gas into car ahead (no self service allowed in Oregon - we are forced to wait for slow attendants that give poor service) and at least 10 minutes after tank was full while driver was in store. Couldn't get gas and then drive up to store. Woman very carefully didn't look at me when she finally came back to her car.

I pulled into one of my semi regular places, and the card reader at the pump was down. I went inside to pay, and the clerk said they needed to know how much gas I needed so they could run the card before I pumped my gas. I estimated low. As it turned out, I was way low. I went back and told them they were loosing money by not having their card reader in good order.

Prices in 98823. The price has been 3.69 for a long time.Like other people in & around this greedy town, we now go to quincy or moses lake to fill-up since its usually 20 to 30 cents a gallon cheaper.

If half the nozzles have 'Out of Order' bags on them and the card readers don't work, it makes me wonder about tank condition/contamination.

If they try to lure you in with a lower price "With car wash" and then you see a higher price at the pump, that is so dishonest that I will never buy from that station OR the company that allows that! The differential here is usually about 20 cents per gallon - and that does NOT make the car wash cheaper than I can get it for elsewhere! Another rip-off!!!!!

I spotted a differential between the price they charge if you pay cash and the price for using a credit card. The company that does this in Chicago and surrounding areas is MOBIL and while I used to buy my gas from MOBIL, after I saw this I became a NEVER EVER AGAIN MOBIL BUYER. NEVER!!!!! It's just a total rip-off! Their prices are higher than many other stations anyway. I am now a VERY LOYAL SPEEDWAY customer; I love getting back $100 from them every once in a while! And their prices are lower, too! Funny thing - MOBIL stations around here are closing!

Price on Street sign showed Cash price, but the word CASh was way too small to see it. Price at pump for Credit was 9 cents per gallon more. I needed amost a full tank, and had too little cash with me to make purchase.

If I did have that cash at the time, I may or may not have filled up anyway because I was already there.

There was a good price at a station I don't normally use so I pulled in to fill up but the card reader didn't work at the pump. I did actually fill up and pay inside but I probably won't go back again.

It was a 76 + carwash, and the pump price was 10 cents higher than the posted price; and there was no ATM card feature at the pump. I would have had to pay the higher "credit" price to use my ATM card. Instead I drove a few blocks down the street and bought Valero for 10 cents a gallon less. Just as good!

Around here sometimes the stations advertise a lower price at the top of their sign and a higher below and when you pull in you find out the lower price is only with a car wash or if you use their credit card or if you buy a gallon of milk or at least 5 dollars worth of crap in the store, etc. I've almost fallen for it a couple of times but remember always read the fine print.

I probably buy far less gas than I would if there were not a 10 cent increase at the pumps for using debit/credit cards. Sometimes its a matter of having children in the car that you don't want to lug inside to pay, and then back out to the pumps. It's not worth stopping when it costs so much, and the amount needed to fill up is hard to predict.

Price issue and Debt card or cash. Mostly ARCO Gasoline Stations. In one day I pulled out of 3 ARCO Stations because of that!!! Credit Card! Points for cash and extra time to-pay from statement end of text deleted

To houseof, I have both heard and read the same thing about loose particles if station has had recent fill-up from tanker. Sounds very logical to me.
