I wish people that drive "efficiently" would get out of my way, when I'm driving I'm always in a rush. If I weren't, I'd be walking.

I keep my tires full of Air and I drive about 5 miles an hour under the speed limit. Why throw your money away by driving 75 & 80.

Well I have to admit, I don't normally hypermiler, but I was out on the road this morning and I put the pedal to the metal, and the back two were smoking!! No one else was on the road.. Rear end swayed side to side !!
Had to back off, I could see the needle moving down !! Don't normally waste money like that !!
But what the heck, if the President can waste money, so can I !!

I used to drive like the usual LA maniac but as I have aged ("matured"???), I find that 55-65mph seems to feel right, and now that I am pulling a 5th wheel, 55 is right as the mileage is poor no matter how slow.

Serious. Not the comedy channel. l retired and moved closer to shopping and places l go. Try to do several errands in one trip. Keep around 150 miles per month now.

Today, you have to drive efficiently. I drive a Ford and with notions that gas prices are not going down; fuel efficiency is not going to get much better; and the economy is still crap because of both democrats and republicans, the only thing that can be done to save money is to conserve when and where you can.

I purchased a ScanGage2 that shows instant miles per gallon since our car does not have a trip computer. A quick glance tells me how much gas I am using. Goal on the highway is to keep it above 30 mpg. With starts and stops and hills I average 26 to 28 mpg in an Acura TL Type S.

I am a full time Hypermilager, unless I am driving my Daytona Shelby. What's the fun, in getting out the muscle car if you can't use the muscle.
I am able to get over 26 MPG with a 3/4 ton pickup in town. Manual Trans, and cummins diesel. So If I can do that, I must be doing something right.

I will take my foot off the gas pedal early if there is a stop sign or a red light ahead and then I ease into the gas from a stop. I don't know what I save but it makes me feel better.

"I also drive on the interstate with the windows up and the A/C on." You can drive 120mph with the windows down and still get better mileage than using the A/C. It's been proven, in multiple studies, that windows down is always going to be more economical than using the A/C.

I try to drive efficiently, but sometimes it's not worth being tailgated by two tons of SUV in my rear view mirror. People here are so much more aggressive than anywhere I've lived previously.

When I can, I make conserving fuel a priority. The most frustrating circumstance is trying to get to work on time after being called to an assignment too late to plan ahead. If it wasn't for a health condition, I might be able to jump up & head out early, but I have to prepare to eat specific nutrition every 2 hours, much of which can't be prepared the night before and remain palatable. I tried. It was disgusting. If I don't eat right, my blood sugar goes crazy. At the same time, there's competition for grabbing job assignments online. I've tried going to bed early enough to get up at 5-6am, but by then full day assignments are gone. I'll get calls for afternoon assignments at half pay. I've tried going to bed early enough to wake up at 3am, when most assignments are posted, but other people's activities keep me awake. So I stay up to wait for a full day assignment, and live on a few hours of sleep during the work year. Bad situation. This is the reality of governments going to the private sector to hire temp workers.
