Having been a cashier for 6.5 years, you begin to see it all. I liked my job, loved meeting ppl, and always enjoyed a job well done. However two of my pet peeves was ppl that thought they knew better than I how the pumps worked, and the fact that I somehow was responsible for the price at the pump. I am making min wage AND have to pay the same as THEY did! Did they not get it? I adjust as best I can, so can you. We should all complain about the BIG OIL companies making insane profits. (Oh yeah, one more pet peeve, having to look at the newspaper when those PROFITS are printed!) As a former cashier, and currently unemployed, the gas prices will really affect me now, but I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT OUT on anyone when I have to fill up. It is just common curtiousy to actually be nice to someone who is serving YOU.

You know, people just have tunnel vision. They don't use whatever pea brains they have and blame the first person they see. Those cashiers deserve a pat on the back and a big thank you for putting up with that crap!

We can be as dumb as we care to be: "When I don't like prices, I go somewhere else, that's what Gasbuddy is for. If I pay the price (like the gouging near a major airport) then it's my own fault if I pay that much for gasoline.

Gas stations attendants are people too, just trying to earn a living in a tough economy, unless the worker has a bad attitude we need to give them a break, they are working for their lives and families just like the rest of us.

Gas station cashiers are just doing their jobs and have NO control over gasoline prices and very little other things either.

any which way one turns it, it's not the little guy's or gal's fault. They are there for minimum wage and at hours that other ppl would never think of working. Plus, at least around here, they put their lives on the line in many outer lying areas (armed robberies of the graveyard shifts).

IT IS STILL NOT THE ATTENDANT'S FAULT, it is just the owner marching prices as is done in most private operations - BE CIVIL'

I'm not going to treat the attendant like a jerk unless they are a jerk in the first place. If I'm upset over prices, I'll just take my business elsewhere.

Station manager and owner DO HAVE CONTROL over their price! When another gas station refill their tank and raise their price, they choose to raise at the same time or not, a friend of mine was doing the job! When you see a same brand name in the same city asking 6cents per liter more than other year long, you know they can do it!

I pay at the pump so much I did not realize customers would take that kind of view - gas stations should post this article at the stations.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
This holds true for all we come in contact with. Courtesy and respect is always the best.
And I also agree with many of the earlier comments, speculators and the oil barons are the ones who control prices, not the one who is changing the sign.

Where did this come from? I know NO ONE that blames the clerk. Let us face facts...those are not the sharpest bulbs in the shed. The OWNER of the station ... now we may be talking another story all together. Non starter here folks...It's greedy big oil, which has HUGE surpluses (supply and demand my eye), and speculators!

Yes, but Americans are brain-lazy and don't want to have to think about where the high gas prices come from. It's easier to blame the little guy, rather than their own bad behavior (voting GOP because they'll keep gas prices low. Ha!)

A few years ago I saw a small loud mouth woman call a 300 pound lady everything in the world. You ought to have saw her run when that woman got tired of it and came out from behind the counter..Wish that big woman would have caught her lol.

Kind of ironical to hear attendants are being mistreated by the people who actually cause the problem - the people who purchase gas. Stop buying so much gas and the price would come down dramatically.

Anyone who works at a public serving job probably takes some grief. One of the times that I felt like really jumping a clerk, was when gas was over $4 per gallon and I had made a small purchase of about 6 gallons. The clerk sneered at my meager purchase since a lot of SUV's and Pickups were filling up and paying $80 or more..

All employees of these stations have no say in the gas price. They are instructed by their corporate headquarters to what the price should be. Now from that point up there is corruption. Corporations are not lowering the price as fast as they hike it. So the company is making more of a profit than they would like you to think. They also don't pay hourly employees a decent wage for putting up with the public's ignorance and rudeness.

Chill out, you talking to the wrong man. Voice your opinion to you Senator and Representative. The fix is in and has been for more than a decade, it will only change when our government gets a spine and stands up to big oil and the refiners.

Point well taken pd. Thanks for the reminder. They're just average Americans trying to make a living like the rest of us, and lets face it no one wants to get a hard time from anyone. We have a corrupt Govt. giving everybody a hard time already, we don't need others adding to it.
